I would've liked it better if they hadn't have thrown in the random romance. It's a great movie about friendship and working together and besides the ending I really liked the story, and the idea behind it. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was a lot better than I had expected it to be.

The art was really pretty I think, and the character designes were also really cute. It was a really cute movie, and besides the fact that there isn't much characterisation the characters are pretty likable in my opinion. The background music was one of the best things about the ...

What's with the hate with this movie? It is very good from start to finish. I don't know why many people hate the ending but in my opinion the ending is totally great. The staffs of this movie is very aware what viewers hate in an anime. And the number one thing that the viewers doesn't want in an anime is cliche storylines. This one is a "middle finger" to those anime companies that do the same thing over and over again.

Story and Character (9/10)
For the story, all I have to say is it's very realistic. The first half of the movie is good. Heroine ...

I was lucky enough to be able to see this film at one of the select American theatre screenings in Boston, and I have to say it was well worth the price of admission.

Made by the same team as Ano Hana, their style and influence can be seen throughout Kokosake. Like Ano Hana, it's a story about characters who went through tragic events when they were younger which have affected their lives significantly.

The main girl of the show, Jun, is still alive, but has lost her voice due to guilt from the breakup of her family as a child. However, she believes that she ...

The use of teenage drama coated with realistic fiction just so the general audience can relate to a situation is fairly overrated. We've had a lot of these teenage love triangles that all try to contain realism in them but in the end, have the characters move away from the realistic outcome. What's to say that stories aren't fantasy escapes for other people, after all?

And here we have Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda or, if you're the western name audience, Anthem of the heart. If you want an initial take on it, the best word to describe it would be "stereotypical." Let's be real here, there's a ...

If I could give a decimal rating, I would give this movie a solid 8.5/10. It is definitely worthy of watching if you enjoy animations with beautiful messages (e.g any Studio Ghibli or similar movies) because if this show does one thing well, it is that it stays true to portraying what it aims to.

Story: 8
This is one of those movies where I think they picked a message they wanted to portray first and then wrote up a story to complement it, and I think they did that very well. It's unique and easy to understand. I think many are judging this movie in ...

As I write this review, I speak up to all those who have a hard time opening up, For this movie offered me the voice to break out of my shell. And so, it truly deserves to be called a masterpiece.

From the creators of AnoHana comes another slice of life anime which definitely captured my heart. At first, I thought it was gonna be another school life romance because of the cover, but I was wrong. This movie truly speaks the genre "Slice of life". It wanted me to believe in fantasy at the beginning, but through the end taught me that curses and miracles ...

I can't believe more people aren't talking about this movie. This is my first time writing a review so bear with me.

I really enjoyed the story and rather complex characters.
The music was very beautifully composed and perfectly fitted the narrative.
I really liked the backstory of both Jun and Takumi, which was beautifully portrait through the art and some of the musical elements.

The dynamic between Characters was at times very funny and pretty relatable. Even until the very ending it stayed pretty innocent and pure.

It was a well spent two hours so anyone whose got the time should just go for it and ...

This is the first review I'm going to write, and probably the only review unless I can find another anime that will make me re-watch this 8 or more times in a row.

Okada Mari delivered her forte again: Romance and coming of age story. I'll write this review on my perspective so feel free to agree/disagree. It doesn't matter to me since I ain't some professional critic and only writing this because I love the series a lot.

Story: 10/10

Story was pretty well developed with it starting how Jun became the girl she was. She made an attempt to escape from reality, encountered many problems ...

First of all, this is my first review. What inspired me to make this was the anime itself. Just think, Jun Naruse is just like me in that we both fail to express our true opinions. I have seen so many anime ranging from One Piece to Attack on Titan to Tari Tari, and spent so much time on them, but I never stated how I felt for each anime. I think after accumulating a butt load of anime, it is time for me to speak up. This anime was great, and so utterly underrated.

Second of all, who cares about a summary? Why do ...

I had heard many good things about this movie and finally got around to watching it and it was a solid "I'm glad I watched it, but it didn't blow my socks off" film. A lot of moments in this film came off as really melodramatic to me personally, which I know is generally just a thing in anime and I can normally swallow a decent amount of melodrama, but I also just watched Kimi no na wa (Your Name) earlier today and just comparatively that felt like a more mature melodramatic movie if that makes any sense. I probably shot myself in the foot ...

This is from the same writer and it encompasses the repercussions of what words can do to define you in life. A few words from the ones you are closest the most can make or break you and in this movie it is both celebrated and lamented. It also breaks some of the common tropes in romance that really improves the quality of the movie overall. The character development for all the major characters and heck even some side characters are really great. The strongest asset of this movie is none other than it's music. I'm not one of those type of guys that really ...

How to make an anime drama 101.

You take a cheerful girl who after a traumatic incident early in her life becomes a loner who does not talk to anyone. Then you create a foil of a character who is a genius in music. Have him stop playing music due to gasp, another traumatic incident. We then make the hottest girl in the class who has the feels for above loner. Thats all? Wait we need more, oh yeah, lets add in a guy whos like the sport champ. Lets throw all these people into a club or something so they have a ...

First of all I would like to say that this was probably the most enjoyable anime movie I've ever watched.

Secondly I would like to say this movie is probably not for everyone. It's a teenage drama! It depicts high school students with their seperate issues who are randomly put together in a group and their development. The movie could be considered quite cheesy, contains (possibly stupid) drama and would probably considered boring by abig part of the anime community.

That being said I think this is more or less a model teenage drama movie.
It's not super innovative and contains a lot of what you would expect ...

An Actual Review of one of the most overlooked films in history. When I originally wrote this, I stopped questioning what films I would review as to me it didn't matter. If I'm writing about it that means I genuinely took time out of what little life I have just to mention it, I could easily be focusing on my course assignments right now. Instead I decided to watch an Anime of which very few people will ever care about and even less so will care about this review. I'm writing this because as soppy and as cliché as it's title may be, Anthem of ...

A short review on this movie which I enjoyed greatly.
Short Summary: If you like musicals, be sure give this movie a try.

Story : 8
The story is simple and fairy-tale-like but sufficient to keep the viewer entertained through the first half of the movie. The story kind of falls short when it come to the final 30 minutes or so but in my opinion that doesn't really matter since the focus of the second half of the movie should be on the music anyway. I personally think that the ending of the movie fits nicely since it is not that kind of movie that we should ...

Very /light/ spoilers. Just a quote. From the end. We'll get there.
The ratings are the least of my concern in writing this review, so instead of numbers, I'll give you words.
The story and the art are just as you'd expect from the likes of those that brought us Anohana, totally unique. The soundtrack is pretty good, nothing really groundbreaking—but it fit the tone of the movie at every toss and turn. Excellent work in those three departments.
I'll get to characters in a moment.
I swear up and down that my enjoyment of this series was STUNTED. The fansubs in the version that I watched through a ...

SHOULD HAVE MADE IT A SHOW INSTEAD OF A MOVIE!

I saw loads of potential in this movie. The story is great, so is the art style and I liked its sound direction, although I felt as it was missing something but this could be due to the pacing of the movie being too rushed. Fitting this kind of thing into 2 hours really restricted what it could have been.

Massive pacing issues! It should have been made as an at least 24 episode show hopefully, even more. Then it could have taken it slower and built it up to a crescendo to then shock us ...

Mixed Feelings

I remember when I saw the title of this movie I was excited. What can I say? It's about music.
And it does have important moments with music and the songs are appropriate for them so I can't say I'm disappointed with its musicality.
The main plot of the story is nice. I like the fact that it is satire and not afraid to show the reality of most people in facing their mistakes and trauma; either runaway or pretend that there is nothing wrong.

The way of the main characters' relationship, though... it was disappointing. It seemed too forced and ... I don't know, bland?
And the ending! ...

This movie is fucking amazing.

Jun, the main character, she's the best girl. The whole movie surrounds her, since she's the main character but she's struggling, and its nice to see her try, but this shit is weird since she's on a curse where she cant talk (That's not a spoiler, it doesnt affect you). She gets grouped with 3 people. 1 normal dude, 1 normal girl, and 1 guy that doesnt really give a shit.

Their grouped to do something in a certain event, therefore, they create a certain bond. But, Jun, the best girl, becomes close friends with Takumi, and, Takumi tries to help ...

The movie is so great and heartwarming. Very well written high school drama, with usual high school tropes but with a refreshing twist. I really like the movie, i give it 9/10. minus 1 because the art is a bit generic for my taste. all in all, base on story, 10/10, it has a refreshing take on the usual high school-teen-drama story with a lot of heart, will definitely make you laugh and cry in one movie, there is a bit of musical/singing part to the movie which for me makes it even great. character development is great as well, especially with the four ...
